The direction of the CDU and CSU election programme is right - Germany must become simpler, faster and also more competitive

The President of the Employers' Association, Dr. Rainer Dulger, commented on the election manifesto of the CDU and CSU:

Berlin, 22 June 2021: "The direction of the CDU and CSU election programme is right: The Union parties want to modernise our country and unleash it from unnecessary burdens and regulations. This is the right way to go. Germany must become simpler, faster and also more competitive.

The CDU and CSU see that without a strong economy, the new start after Corona, the creation of employment and the mastering of the upcoming challenges from digitalisation and climate change cannot be managed. We therefore expressly welcome the fact that corporate taxes are to be lowered, contribution burdens kept stable and bureaucracy reduced. This will help companies and their workforces. These are the right stimuli for growth, employment and prosperity in our country. It is also the right signal to have confidence in the powers of social partnership and collective bargaining autonomy.

Because it is a matter close to my heart that we once again have more founders in this country, I would like to emphasise in a particularly positive way that the CDU/CSU wants to launch a comprehensive unleashing package. Setting up a company online within 24 hours, a bureaucracy-free year after setting up and a reduction in bureaucracy in the second year of setting up are basic prerequisites for getting off to a successful start in self-employment. The Union has recognised that this is the only way to create the jobs of tomorrow here in Germany.

A blank space in the draft programme remains the necessary adjustments in our social security systems. Demographic change is putting pressure on sustainable financing. Important steps must be taken in the next legislative period. For this, we need concrete concepts - also for how we want to keep social security contributions below 40 percent. There is also no new departure in labour law. The flexibilisation of working hours is a positive signal, but must actually be implemented in the next legislature."
