Commenting on the resolution of the Fourth Law for the Protection of the Population in the Event of an Epidemic Situation of National Significance by the Federal Cabinet on Tuesday, the President of the Employers' Association, Dr. Rainer Dulger, said:
Germany remains trapped in its bureaucratic regulation - compulsory testing is a declaration of mistrust towards companies
Berlin, 13 April 2021: "German business supports all goal-oriented efforts to combat the pandemic quickly. However, we have considerable doubts that this week's fast-track legislation will deliver an improvement for virus control. Measures based solely on incidence ignore the diverse and positive experience gained from integrated overall concepts already in use. In year two of pandemic control, this is too little. Also, essential needs, such as digital contact tracing, remain unresolved. A clear, evidence-based approach that builds on actually effective measures is missing. Germany remains trapped in its bureaucratic regulation.
This is also demonstrated by the testing obligation. The decided legal obligation for employers to offer tests to their employees is a further declaration of mistrust towards the companies and their employees in this country. The testing obligation only leads to a further bureaucratic burden on the already stumbling and distressed companies in Germany. The voluntary commitment of the many companies is not only discredited, but downright disregarded. We remain firmly convinced that the business community, which after all is what we all are, should always be part of the problem-solving process. Only together, in solidarity between the parties supporting the government and the business community, can this crisis be overcome."
