Chief executive Steffen Kampeter: No short-time allowance can compensate for omitted inoculation
Berlin, 12 March 2021: "So far, the German labour market has come through the pandemic with a black eye. And that is largely due to the tried and tested short-time allowance. The short-time allowance is not a company subsidy, but serves to preserve jobs and thus the employees.
It is therefore also true that the pandemic has pushed many companies to the limit or beyond. The vaccination train must therefore pick up speed. The slow train must become a sprinter. That will help the labour market the fastest.
Otherwise, the alarming rise in long-term unemployment will hardly be stopped. The BA is now facing a major challenge. Our goal as social partners: to get people back into employment quickly. Through targeted advice and support, placement and, where necessary, qualification - but above all through our own efforts."
