Joint election appeal by Employers' President Dr. Rainer Dulger and Yasmin Fahimi, Chairwoman of the German Trade Union Confederation:
Go to the polls. Use your vote as a citizen of this country.
Berlin, February 20, 2025: The challenges facing the future federal government could not be greater. The German economy must grow again so that we can secure employment and prosperity. The de-industrialization of Germany must be stopped. And we need answers to the profound changes in transatlantic relations under President Donald Trump.
There are no quick solutions to these challenges. Getting Germany on the right track will take a lot of effort. That is why we need a stable government that works closely together in a spirit of trust and tackles our country's problems as a joint project.
We expect the new government to strengthen our economy, make our working world fit for the future and create secure prospects for employees. It must be able to tackle urgent tasks such as the competitiveness of the German economy, energy costs, digitalization and securing the supply of skilled workers. And it must take on a strong and unifying role in Europe.
We are not making any recommendations for the upcoming Bundestag elections. It is entirely up to you to decide who you vote for.
However, we ask you to do three things:
Thank you very much.
Dr. Rainer Dulger, President of the Employers' Association
Yasmin Fahimi, Chairwoman of the German Trade Union Confederation
