German Employers’ President Dr Rainer Dulger comments on the healthcare reform:
Further Reform Steps Urgently Needed
Berlin, 10 July 2026. “It is welcome that the legislative process could be successfully concluded despite the numerous obstacles and is now on the home straight. Any further delay would have been irresponsible given the continued pressure on contribution rates.
Further measures must urgently follow in order to permanently contain social insurance contributions and safeguard Germany’s competitiveness as a business location. We expect Federal Minister Warken to receive greater support in achieving her objectives.
Germany needs a swift and sustainable stabilisation of social insurance contribution rates in order to secure the competitiveness of the country as a place to do business. As long as taxes and social security contributions keep labour costs too high, Germany will not emerge from its economic stagnation.”
