The President of the Employers' Association, Dr. Rainer Dulger, commented on the agreement between Deutsche Bahn and the train drivers' union GDL in the collective bargaining dispute:
The collective bargaining unit works
Berlin, 16 September 2021: "The end of the strikes at Deutsche Bahn is good news for rail customers and a great relief for the economy. In addition, the important news today is that the collective bargaining unit is working! It fulfils its pacifying and regulating function in the collective bargaining autonomy. The three waves of strikes were a test of endurance for many companies and a threat to the already difficult recovery of the economy in times of the Corona pandemic. Ultimately, a wage dispute can only be resolved through intensive talks and at the negotiating table. Legal frameworks for arbitration remain necessary. The paralysis of entire economic sectors to enforce individual interests is not a model for the future of Germany as a business location."
