Berlin, 4 January 2021: "In the coming years, the 'baby boomer' generation will retire and the pressure on our social security systems will become ever greater as a result of this demographic change," Employers' President Rainer Dulger told the Deutsche Presse-Agentur in Berlin. "That is why it is clear - and we should all be honest for once on this subject: If our life expectancy keeps rising, our working lives must inevitably rise as well."
Dulger said, "There is no alternative but for the costs from the aging of society to be spread across the generations - because that is the only way to maintain long-term confidence in the statutory pension."
