“The location is not in good shape - Germany threatens to become the sick man of Europe again,” says employer president Dr. Rainer Dulger in an @Handelsblatt interview and urgently calls for an economic turnaround with more market orientation, less bureaucracy and lower taxes.
The election on Sunday is a decision of direction for the business location.
The next German government must place Germany's competitiveness at the center of its policies.
The key points here are:
Work must be worthwhile
High taxes and social security contributions make work unattractive. The state can ensure that employees have more in their wallets. More people who want to work 40 hours should be able to do so again. The citizen's income provides the wrong incentives and must be reformed to strengthen the labor market.
Trump as a challenge and an opportunity
Germany and Europe must become stronger economically in order to negotiate with the USA on an equal footing. “Trump will shake up Europe, which may be good for us,” said Dulger.
