Employers' President Dr. Rainer Dulger on the EU Commission's Omnibus I package:
The omnibus proposal is a first step towards removing unnecessary hurdles.
Berlin, February 26, 2025: "With today's announcement, the European Commission is finally making good on its promises to cut red tape. We need this course correction to put Europe's competitiveness back at the center - simplification, more business, less bureaucracy.
The omnibus proposal is a first step towards removing unnecessary hurdles. Above all, this will relieve the burden on SMEs and, not least, the authorities. It is not sustainable to overburden companies with overly complex obligations that are as thick as a telephone directory and cost billions.
This is not the time for a bumpy cold start: we call on the Council of the EU and the European Parliament to adopt the package without further ado and with the highest priority.
However, the goal of reducing bureaucratic burdens by at least 25 percent is still a long way from being achieved. Further ambitious proposals must follow."
