Increase of the compensatory levy not a suitable means for more employment of people with disabilities
Berlin, 03 December 2020. The increase in the compensatory levy for companies that do not employ severely disabled people, as proposed today by the Federal Minister of Labour Heil, is not a suitable means of increasing the employment of people with disabilities, but a purely political manoeuvre. Such stricter sanctions counteract the common message that employing people with disabilities is an asset and a business case for companies. The compensatory levy is already being increased in line with legislative plans. The additional penalty payment sends the wrong signal to companies that are already under a great deal of strain.
