The Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA) comments on today's vote in the EU Council on the EU Value Chain Directive (CSDDD):

EU must focus on strategic competitiveness

Berlin, May 24, 2024: "With the directive adopted today, the EU is actively combating the competitiveness of our companies. The directive is disproportionate and impractical. It is emblematic of the many EU laws adopted over the past five years.

We need a change of course for the coming legislative period. Competitive companies are the basis for a strong Europe. Small-scale regulation must come to an end. Reducing bureaucracy in the EU must be more than just an announcement.

It is about focusing on Europe's strategic competitiveness - we employers are ready for change.
