The Confederation of German Employers' Associations and the German Trade Union Confederation have issued a joint statement against right-wing extremism:
Berlin, January 29, 2024 - The social partners in Germany have made a decisive contribution to rebuilding our country after the horrors of National Socialist rule and developing a social and economic model that enables a fair and social balance. The social partners have never differentiated between the origins or nationalities of employees. This has helped to secure democracy and prosperity in our country for decades. The German economy and the German trade unions and works councils are aware of the enormous importance of social peace for Germany.
Our common understanding of prosperity and freedom irrevocably includes a commitment to the Basic Law and the unity of Europe. We clearly reject all efforts to weaken central statements of the Basic Law and European unity, as well as the current remigration plans of right-wing extremists. Our companies are a mirror of society. The people who work for and with us are our colleagues, our neighbors and friends. And we must remain attractive as a location for Germany, also in order to invite foreign skilled workers to find a home here. Every citizen must feel safe in our country. This is what we stand for together.
