Employer president Dulger explains in the run-up to the vaccination summit:

Berlin, 31 January 2021: "It is good and right that there will now be a vaccination summit. After all, it had been apparent for months that there was a need for a vaccination strategy that was coordinated as far as possible throughout Germany. However, a vaccination strategy was neither coordinated with the parliaments nor with the economy. We still consider this to be a deficit. This state of affairs also automatically leads to discussions within the population - but also among businesses.

We employers could play a supporting role if we could have our employees vaccinated by our company doctors. Because one thing is clear: only with a joint effort by politics and business can we overcome this crisis well and as quickly as possible.

Adapting our vaccination strategy and increasing the speed of vaccination is a key competitive advantage. This is where we need to get better. We will only overcome this crisis if we consistently vaccinate. For this to succeed, however, the state must also create more confidence by informing people about the opportunities of vaccination and by setting an example. Here, the Federal Chancellor or the Federal President could have themselves publicly vaccinated as a confidence-boosting signal."
