Employers' President Dr. Rainer Dulger comments on today's agreement on the 2024 federal budget:

There is still a lot of work to be done in 2024

Berlin, December 13, 2023: "The good news is that a decision has been made and all political leaders have compromised. Any non-decision would have been even worse for Germany as a business location and its jobs. However, sustainable structural reforms have once again been postponed. That is a missed opportunity. This leaves companies with enormous uncertainty.

We expressly welcome the fact that the accuracy of the welfare state is to be improved. Supporting and demanding is once again becoming more of a focus. However, there are a number of air bookings and shifts to the contributors - sustainable consolidation looks different. There is still a lot of work to be done in 2024. These resolutions create a breathing space but not a sustainable solution. Respect for the Basic Law remains important."
