Commenting on the EU Council's agreement on the Omnibus I package, Employers' President Dr. Rainer Dulger said:
Recognizing the signs of the times: more competitiveness for the EU
Berlin, June 24, 2025: "The European Commission and the Council of the EU have recognized the signs of the times. In view of the dwindling competitiveness in Europe, the Council took the right decision tonight: Burdensome EU regulations on the supply chain and sustainability reporting must be fundamentally reformed.
Bureaucratic streamlining and simplification are urgently needed so that companies are not further overburdened. The Council has done the right thing by relieving large parts of the SME sector of unnecessary bureaucratic obligations.
It is crucial that the European Parliament also agrees to ambitious steps for more competitiveness. Parliament must not delay the legislative process. Care must also be taken to ensure that the internal market is not fragmented by differing implementation in the EU member states. European companies need immediate relief, also in other areas."
