On the occasion of the labour market figures published today, Employers' President Dr. Rainer Dulger explains:
Placing more people in employment means lower expenditure on unemployment benefits
Berlin, July 1, 2025: "The Federal Employment Agency must focus on its central task of getting people into work. This is the most effective lever for reducing the budget deficit and avoiding additional burdens for contributors.
There is no room for new burdens. Unemployment insurance must not be assigned any further state tasks that actually have to be financed from the tax budget. Politicians must resist the temptation to hinder structural change and prolong unemployment with misguided measures.
The more people are placed in employment, the lower the expenditure on unemployment benefit - and the more stable the financing of unemployment insurance remains. That is why the focus must currently be on one thing: placing, placing, placing.
Many companies are still urgently looking for staff. Now is the right time to bring jobseekers and companies together quickly and precisely. People who are working not only stand on their own two feet, but are also more satisfied than people who are currently out of work.
The Executive Board of the BA must continue to drive forward the internal transformation - with more digitalization, more efficient processes and clear prioritization so that unemployment insurance remains reliable in the future."
