Employers' President Dr. Rainer Dulger on the European Parliament's approval of the Omnibus I package:
A strong signal for reducing bureaucracy: Europe is paving the way – now the German government must deliver
Berlin, 16 December 2025. "The European Parliament's approval of the Omnibus I Directive is hopefully a turning point: European rules are finally becoming more practical, reporting burdens are decreasing, and companies – especially SMEs – are feeling noticeably less burdened.
Now it's all about speed: the Council of the EU must also adopt the directive quickly. It is up to the German government to implement the requirements 1:1. The German Supply Chain Act must be amended as quickly as possible so that only companies with 5,000 or more employees are affected. Businesses need legal certainty and predictability – and they need it now.
To ensure that the reduction of bureaucracy is not piecemeal but has a broad and tangible impact, further omnibus packages, including on EU labour market issues, are urgently needed. The priorities are clear: a functioning internal market, unhindered labour mobility and the consistent digitalisation of all administrative processes.
Europe can simplify – now it is Germany's turn to seize this opportunity."
