Commenting on the coalition's agreement on a law on human rights compliance in international supply chains, the Confederation of German Employers' Associations said:
Berlin, 27 May 2021 The law is and remains over-regulatory and superfluous. However, it must be acknowledged that an important limitation has now been made in the area of civil liability. If this holds up in court, the negative impact on supply chains and economic cooperation with emerging economies will hopefully be limited. It is now up to politicians to show whether they will enforce the same human rights principles in their actions that they are now demanding from companies. We employers will not let up on our responsibility to protect the environment and human rights and to ensure fair working conditions in our economic activities.
