The first signs of a rethink on the part of the European Commission can be seen with regard to the suspension of the EU Chemicals Regulation or the taxonomy in the social sector. The Commission President's announcement that she will present concrete proposals to reduce reporting obligations by the fall of this year is also very positive. Nevertheless, it seems that regulation is still THE tool of choice. Despite criticism from Parliament and the Member States, proposals that are hostile to business locations and companies are booming. Examples include the ecological over-regulation of urgently needed hydrogen, the revision of the Plant Protection Products Regulation and the so-called Nature Restoration Act. The latter means massive professional restrictions or potential closure for farmers. You can imagine what this means for food and nutrition security. As if that were not enough, the Commission now wants to bring what it considers to be the worst buildings up to the latest energy standards. The controversial Commission proposal on the energy efficiency of buildings recently won a majority of MEPs in the European Parliament. However, the result of the vote reveals a major division. This is because it leaves homeowners, homeowners and the housing industry alone with the costs. If the proposal becomes a reality, this would mean a tripling of renovation work in Germany alone. And that in times of a shortage of skilled workers!Taxonomy, sustainability reporting or the EU Supply Chain Act - these are just some of the other dossiers that mean additional burdens without added value and also make the financing prospects of SMEs more difficult. The "Green Industry Plan" presented at the beginning of February also holds out the prospect of more rather than less regulation. The Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA) published as part of this and the intended expansion of sustainable key technologies of the Green Deal is a good development. However, there are contradictions with the ongoing revision of the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED): while the NZIA aims to accelerate the expansion of production capacities, the scope of the IED extends to the extraction of raw materials, focuses on industrial plants with regard to "critical" limit values and calls for new, extensive information obligations, which is in stark contrast to the Commission's latest proposal. The Commission's concerns are largely correct. The problem lies rather in the concentration of laws in an uncertain situation with uncoordinated regulatory projects. In the midst of economic transformation, Europe is facing existential issues that require more urgent solutions: Issues relating to the energy transition, security of supply, competitiveness or attractiveness as a business location. Increasing and, above all, one-sided reporting obligations are not bringing about the envisaged change, but are only overstretching the administrative resilience of SMEs.Ideologically driven political endeavors must finally be adapted to the real conditions of family businesses and also thought about from their perspective. We need a moratorium on bureaucracy, smart regulation, one-in-one-out and the consolidation of all reporting obligations in a single (digital) legal instrument. A simple, coherent legal framework instead of confusing legislation and a noticeable reduction in the regulatory burden - that would be an urgently needed step towards a competitive Europe. The EU must leave minimum wages and details of pay transparency to subsidiarity and thus to national legislation. We must now focus on legislation that will lead us out of the crisis.\" \/>\n<meta name=\"twitter:description\" content=\"Do we need a regulatory brake in the face of ongoing challenges?\" \/>\n<meta name=\"twitter:site\" content=\"@DieBDA\" \/>\n{\"@context\":\"https:\\\/\\\/schema.org\",\"@graph\":[{\"@type\":\"WebPage\",\"@id\":\"https:\\\/\\\/arbeitgeber.de\\\/dr-markus-pieper-mdep-abgeordneter-im-europaeischen-parlament-eu-wettbewerbsfaehigkeit-in-gefahr\\\/\",\"url\":\"https:\\\/\\\/arbeitgeber.de\\\/dr-markus-pieper-mdep-abgeordneter-im-europaeischen-parlament-eu-wettbewerbsfaehigkeit-in-gefahr\\\/\",\"name\":\"Why empathy is the basis for diversity and inclusion - die Arbeitgeber\",\"isPartOf\":{\"@id\":\"https:\\\/\\\/arbeitgeber.de\\\/#website\"},\"primaryImageOfPage\":{\"@id\":\"https:\\\/\\\/arbeitgeber.de\\\/dr-markus-pieper-mdep-abgeordneter-im-europaeischen-parlament-eu-wettbewerbsfaehigkeit-in-gefahr\\\/#primaryimage\"},\"image\":{\"@id\":\"https:\\\/\\\/arbeitgeber.de\\\/dr-markus-pieper-mdep-abgeordneter-im-europaeischen-parlament-eu-wettbewerbsfaehigkeit-in-gefahr\\\/#primaryimage\"},\"thumbnailUrl\":\"https:\\\/\\\/arbeitgeber.de\\\/wp-content\\\/uploads\\\/2023\\\/03\\\/bda-arbeitgeber-agenda-kommentar_der_woche-\u00a9markus_pieper_-552x274px-2023_03_23.jpg\",\"datePublished\":\"2023-03-22T16:15:52+00:00\",\"dateModified\":\"2023-12-05T09:20:48+00:00\",\"description\":\"All empirical studies show a great and acute need for action in schools.
